Disruptive Innovation In Tech

Blended Learning in the Classroom

The proposal advocates for the use of the Blended Learning Model.  The Blended Learning Model gives students Choice, Ownership, and Voice through authentic learning environments.  It provides the opportunity for students to collaborate, communicate, be creative and develop critical thinking skills in becoming life-long learners.  Blended learning creates a dynamic environment- catering to each students needs to attain the skills necessary for responsible citizenship in a 21st century world.

My EDLD 5305 Reflection:

As I look back on the course guidelines, I am reminded just how far I have come thus far.  As one of the first steps into my journey for a Master's degree, this program has already become so much more than that.  It is not the journey toward a degree, but a journey toward a philosophy of growth through choice, ownership, and voice.  Freedom to express myself has become the focus of my activities in the course. The collaboration that I have had with the other members of my cohort has been amazing.  The information provided and the coursework required long hours to complete, but I feel that I am a better learner for it.  This course have been an amazing start to my journey in Applied Digital Learning.

My Innovation Proposal:

My innovation proposal seeks to address a deficiency in the education of students in my classroom- lack of empathy for the learning process due to their reliance on electronics and social media.  In the proposal, I address the Blended Learning model as a potential solution by giving students the choice, ownership, and voice for their learning.

My Implementation Outline

This outline provides a multi-step process for preparing to implement a Blended Learning model into a high school ELA classroom.  It calls for a trial period with one class including all lesson planning and data collection with bi-yearly updates to the administration and possible professional development for school wide and possible district wide implementation.

Contributions to My Learning and My Learning Community:

Learning communities are the backbone of successful ventures whether it be business, or the business of education.  My learning community was a group of highly motivated, supportive people who without their help, I would not have gotten this far.  Here is my reflection on my learning so far.
